You have questions. We have answers.

Why should my child learn to code?

Our philosophy is that computer science and coding are a vehicle to encourage kids to become creative problem solvers and learn critical thinking skills. In addition to introducing the fundamentals of computer science and coding, our programs teach students how to collaborate with their peers and learn essential leadership skills.

What is the deadline for registering for summer 2016?

We keep enrollment open until the course fills up. Once the course is full you will have an option to add your child to the waitlist and we will contact you if/when space becomes available.

What are my payment options?

Registration and payments are processed using ActivityHero and you can pay using a credit card or Paypal.

What is your refund policy?

We understand schedules change. If your child is no longer able to attend your enrolled course, just let us know before May 1, 2016 and we will issue you a full refund. We cannot issue refunds after that date, however, if you find another student to take your spot then we can transfer that enrollment.

What is your early-bird pricing?

Enroll before December 31, 2015 and save $50. (This discount will be applied during the checkout process on ActivityHero.)

Do you offer any discounts for siblings or if we enroll the same child in more than one course?

Of course! We offer a multiple session discount, which applies if you enroll the same child in multiple sessions or more than one child in the same session. This means if you sign up for more than one session, you will save 10% off the second session. (This discount will be applied during the checkout process on ActivityHero.)

Who teaches your courses?

One thing that makes our Embark Labs unique is that all our courses are designed and delivered by credentialed educators. Learn more about the fabulous teachers that will be working with your child this summer on our About page.

What is the typical class size? What is the student-to-teacher ratio?

Our courses typically have 15-20 students with one lead instructor and several coaches. All our instructors and coaches either have received, or are in the process of receiving, their teaching credential. Our maximum student-to-teacher ratio is 5:1.

Does my child need a computer?

No. We will provide a Chromebook for your child to use during our program.

Do you provide lunch?

No. We do not provide lunch but you are welcome to send snacks/lunch with your child that they can enjoy during the breaks.

Where are you located?

We are based in Santa Clara at 3964 Rivermark Plz #254. Our Summer 2016 courses will take place at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View and JLS Middle School in Palo Alto.

Can parents stay for the session?

Not really. Our sessions are designed as drop-off programs and we want students to feel confident and comfortable in their own exploration. Parents are always invited to attend our showcase at the end of each session. If there are other circumstances where a parent/guardian needs to be present, please send us a note and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Can you come and teach your programs in our school or community?
